How Slow Can a Punk Get?
It is often said about us punks and anarchists that we are very good at criticizing everything that's wrong in the world, but offer little alternative. Well, that's not necessarily a bad thing, but I do believe that we have managed to build a small alternative for ourselves, by ourselves, and to be honest, we don't owe anything else to anyone. When four socially crippled kids decide to enter an over-heated padded room and create something that is bigger than than the sum of their parts, to say something, to be heard, or just to make noise and piss off their neighbors, these kids have an alternative. When they play, totally insecure, on a stage in some neon-lighted youth center, and their friends sing along, there is an alternative. When they manage to record some songs, when they believe in them strongly enough to want to make everyone in the world hear it, there is an alternative. And when all this happens not in some suburban basement in Southern California, but in a backward, militaristic, self-destructive, cultural desert-island that calls itslef Israel, there is an alternative.
